Crafting Forever Cascading Z Fold (Fun-Fold) Card
I love making fun-fold cards. A fun-fold card is simple a card that does not just fold hamburger style or hot dog style. It is a card that is unique and fun (hence the name). This card is super fun to make and I knew it would make an awesome card to give to a mom friend who loves to craft (like me!).
The sentiment says: “Crafting forever! Housework whenever“. This is my kind of motto!
The ‘cascading z fold card’ folds flat for easy mailing and although the card is flat you might spend an additional stamp to mail it. I have learned that it depends on the post office and how you decorate your card.
Let me tell you how I made it:
I started with a half sheet of cardstock cut the hot dog fold at 5″ x 11″. I then scored the card at 4″ and 8″ on the long side. Flip it to the short side and just mark slightly at 2.5″.
Line up your cardstock at 2.5″ and 5″ (at an angle) in your trimmer and cut. It leaves you with a sheet looking like this:
Once your cardstock is cut at an angle, fold and burnish your score lines in an accordion and decorate as you desire.
I stamped in Tuxedo black Momento several images from the Crafting Forever stamp set and colored using my Stampin’ Blends. I used Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather and Pool Party. I then fussy cut out all the images and arranged them on my card as I desired.
For the mats for my card I used a peek of Early Espresso to highlight a darker color and whisper white. I just measured and cut accordingly to make the mats fit each other. The two larger panels come in at 4″ and the smallest panel in front, came in at 3″. Although a bit of a pain, it was easier for me when it all came together. I also did the back side 4th panel (which you can see in the flat card picture) with the large paint brush can. I love this color combination of light Sahara Sand and a little bit of Early Espresso for a dark contrast. I also used a few scraps of Designer Series Paper in Highland Heather to add contrast in color and burst of Pool Party in the circle framelit and mat around the paint brushes.
When you are looking from the areal view of the card it looks like a Z, but because you start out high on one end and short on the other it is cascading.
You are sure to receive HAPPY MAIL with this card in your mailbox! Make a few for your friends and send them right away!
