Glitter Explosion ‘Thanks’ Using Embossing Paste and Sponges

Glitter Explosion ‘Thanks’ Using Embossing Paste and Sponges

This card is breath takingly stunning in person! (Not sure if that is a phrase, but I am making it one!)

It is so glittery it leaves a bit of itself with you always! (Ha ha!) I love giving cards to unsuspecting victims, who pull the card out of the envelope and receive a glitter explosion. I don’t always send them but when I do, they are worth it!!

Here is how I made this gorgeous card:

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5.5″ x 4.25″ and sponges. I grabbed my Melon Mambo, Grapefruit Grove, and my So Saffron classic ink pads and went to work.

In swirly circle motions I sponged the entire front of the card.

I then took the a pattern party decorative mask and white embossing paste and spread it everywhere over the mask with my palette knives.

After I was happy with the results, I immediately took my Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter and covered the embossing paste before it dries.

Once the piece was all dolled up, I set it aside to dry. Normally you do not have to let the embossing paste dry over night but I did for this card, only because I could! I think it made a huge difference too….because when I came back to it the next day, it was ready to be man handled with adhesive, ribbon and dimensionals.

I found some retired So Saffron ribbon that worked perfectly with my card. (Ribbon is the ONE thing I have a hard time parting with!!) I also took out my layering oval dies and cut a scallop one in melon mambo and one in whisper white. I stamped with Melon Mambo classic ink, thanks, from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I adhered the two layers together with snail and then mounted it to the card with dimensionals. It was just the right touch for this over-the-top card.

Once the front of my card was finished I adhered it (using tear-n-tape to keep it’s strength) to my So Saffron 4.25″ x 5.5″ card base (cut the hamburger style). For the inside of my card I decided to mount a piece of Grapefruit Grove, measuring 4″ x 5.25″ first and then my Whisper White measuring 5″ x 3.75″. It just added the simplest touch to the inside.

Oh, this card is lovely! Thanks for stopping by and checking out how to make this card. I hope you love it as much as I do and are inspired to make your own. See you soon!

xoxo,
