Inspire and Create, Sketch #005, Using Cow’s It Going

Everybody needs a silly card in their life and the Cow’s It Going Stamp set is one of those sets.

Stampin’ Up! has made us fall in love with all kinds of animals over the years and this stamp set does not diappoint in the least.

For my Inspire and Create card sketch series, Sketch #005, I chose to use the Cow’s It Going Stamp set and it turned out simply adorable. (It’s funny how I always describe my cards as cute! ~ but they are!!)

Here’s is the sketch example to refresh our memories:

Let me tell you how I made my card:

I started with a Crumb Cake card base cut hotdog style down the middle at 4.25″ x 11″ and scored in the middle at 5.5″. I then used my simply score tool and scored every 1/2″ on the crumb cake cardstock to make stripes in my base. I thought this was a nice subtle touch and added texture to my card.

I next, took a piece of Petal Pink Cardstock and ran it through my die cutting machine with the Subtle Embossing Folder and cut it at a diagnol with some basic paper scissors.

I stamped onto Whisper White cardstock in Momento Black Ink and colored my snoozing cow with my Stampin’ Blends. I used light and dark Crumb Cake for the body of my cow, Granny Apple Green for the grass and Lovely Lipstick for the lips and bell.

I cut out my cow with a large circle framelit and framed it with a Lovely Lipstick scallop circle.

I do not always decorate the inside of my cards, but for this cow card, I totally did.

I first matted the inside with Petal Pink cardstock, measuring 4 x 5.25″ and then a piece of Whisper White measuring 5″ x 3.75″. I took the hearts from the stamp set and stamped them in the corners of my card. I imagine this card for someone who is celebrating an achievement and I wanted the card to have plenty of room for writing!

The one thing I am really loving about the card sketches is that it is challenging me to create. I get stuck in a rut just like others I know and when I can look at a sketch and mull it over a little, I get inspired. Just like when I am blogging about the cards I have made. I am re-inspired and it makes me want to go and pick up a stamp set again and play with it.

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you soon!
