Spring Is Alive with Winter Woods

Spring Is Alive with Winter Woods

Spring is HERE!

I keep saying it so I know it is true. I can feel it!

I can hear the birds chirping and I see signs of life in the bulbs popping up around my mailbox and the leaves starting to appear in the trees.

The reality is….it just snowed the other day and I was feeling weighted down by the glume of the day, so, I decided to create a spring inspired card, using the wonderful stamp set, Winter Woods.

Let me tell you all about it.

Winter Woods Cling-Mount Stamp Set #151359

Walking through woods in the winter (or Spring) is one of the most beautiful experiences. Recreate it with the photorealistic trees of this set. There are 7 stamps in all with deeply etched images so you get a superior stamped impression each time.

My Card Layout

First, The Trees

I started with Birch Trees. I stamped them first in Soft Suede at the base, then I added in some Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz with sponge daubers. I stamped hard onto my Whisper White cardstock measuring 3.75″ x 4.25″. I then took another sponge dauber and lightly threw in some Flirty Flamingo, carefully so I didn’t over kill the pink.

I liked the tree line a lot, but I needed to soften up the sky and base, so I used my sponges and lightly sponged a Pool Party skyline and a Soft Suede base…the less ink the better as you just want a soft skyline look.

Second, Creating the Card

After the trees were in place, I went ahead and created my card. I decided to adhere my Whisper White to a piece of Flirty Flamingo that measured just a hair over the Whisper White. I just wanted a thin border at the top of the card. But before attaching the card, I took a pair of scissors and cut a diagonal piece out of the Whisper White. I stamped my sentiment, A Little Note, from the Butterfly Gala Photopolymer Stamp Set (#148580), in Soft Suede in that now open area.

I also attached a bow in Petal Pink ribbon (now retired) from my ribbon stash.

I took that whole piece and attached it with dimensionals onto a Soft Sea Foam mat I embossed with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder (#152320) using my die cutting machine.

Finally the card base!

I finally was ready for my card base. I kept it simple with a Soft Sea Foam card base in the hotdog style measuring 4.25″ x 11″ and scored down the middle at 5.5″. The inside just holds a blank piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4″ x 5.25″.

I hope you love this card as much as I do! It is so cheerful and I can’t wait to send it to someone I love. I find with us being asked to social distance ourselves from others that I am mailing a few more cards than usual. I want to reach people – even if it is not in person.

Oh, and before I go. I totally made a winter version of this card too…. let me show you!

What do you think?

Totally different but the same idea. I actually love them both equally! The only difference in the cards, besides color, is that my fall/winter version is cut in the hamburger style at 5.5″ x 8.5″ scored down at the middle at 4.25″.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I’ll see you again, soon!
