My Card Layout ~ Creating a Background

For the background, I used the ‘squishy block technique‘. I honestly have no idea if that is the right name for this, but that is what I am calling it. Ha!

Take a couple drops of reinker onto a big clear block. Spray plain old water onto the block (I use a spray bottle from my glasses cleaner that has been emptied and clean out) and then I spread the reinker all over the block randomly with the back of a disposable spoon.

For this specific card, I used Sahara Sand Reinker. I used a big clear block and squished. In one card it is a little darker than the other. That is because I used more reinker (which made it darker). I love that you decide how light or dark you want it to look.

  1. Reinker drops
  2. Spray Water
  3. Move inky liquid around with a spoon
  4. Squish onto your cardstock and let dry

My Card Layout ~ Measurements and Embelishments

I created my Meerkat scene on a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3.5″ x 4.5″. After I squished my reinker and let it dry (only a few minutes) I stamped my gang in Momento Black and then at the very bottom I stamped my sentiment in Pool Party ink.

Next, I created a Sahara Sand card base cut in the hamburger style, measuring at 5.5″ x 8.5″ scored down the middle at 4.25″.

For texture, I took a piece of Pool Party cardstock measuring 3.75″ x 5″ and embossed it with the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder in my personal die cutting machine. I adhered it at an angle, directly onto the card base with snail.

To finish up the front, I attached a cute Pool Party Baker’s Twine, left over from my ribbon stash, in a simple bow.

I popped up the Whisper White scene at a slight angle with dimensionals.

My Card Layout ~ The Inside

I started the inside of my card with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3.5″ x 4.75″. I stamped in the bottom corner a meerkat popping up and used my Stampin’ Blends to color him in ~ in Crumb Cake and Pool Party. I then mounted it to a piece of Pool Party cardstock measuring 5″ x 3.75″.

What a fun card! Anyone would love to receive it and I can’t wait to send it.
